Who we are

About us

We build one thing and try to build it well: a straight, no-nonsense history check for any UK-registered vehicle. No subscription, no mystery pricing, no pretending a report covers more than it does. Here's who we are and what we stand for.

Independent & UK-based Industry vehicle data Real human support

Why we built this

Buying a used car in the UK is oddly nerve-wracking for something so common. You're handing over a good chunk of money on the strength of an advert, a quick test drive and a seller who, fingers crossed, is telling you everything. Meanwhile the car's real story sits in records most people never think to look at: how its MOTs have gone year on year, whether the mileage climbs the way it should, what it's actually registered as.

We started this because the checks that surface that story were either overpriced, buried in upsells, or so vague you couldn't tell what you were paying for. We wanted the opposite. One flat price. A clean report you can actually read. And plain English about what it does and doesn't tell you, so nobody feels stung after the fact. That's the whole idea, and we've resisted every temptation to complicate it.

What we stand for

Four things we won't budge on, because they're the reason we bothered.

One price, printed on the tin

Every check is the same flat £5.00. No subscription creeping onto your card, no "premium" tier that unlocks the bits you actually wanted, no upsell at the checkout. You pay once, you get the whole report.

Honest about the edges

We tell you what a report does and doesn't cover before you pay, not after. We don't dress up guidance as certainty, and we'd rather lose a sale than let you think you're getting a finance or write-off check that we don't actually run.

Your money back on a blank

If a registration comes back with nothing usable, the fee goes straight back to your account as credit automatically, with no form to fill in. You should only pay when there's a report worth reading at the other end.

A real person on the other end

Email us and a human reads it. We're small enough that questions don't vanish into a ticket queue, and we'd sooner sort out a problem quietly than argue the toss over a fiver.

How we keep it honest

Trust isn't a slogan, so here's what's actually behind it.

Data the trade relies on

Every report draws on an established industry vehicle-data provider: the same well dealers use before taking a car in part exchange. We explain exactly where it comes from on our how it works page.

Nothing overstated

We spell out what's not in a report (finance, write-off categories, stolen markers) right on the page, before you pay. See a full sample report so there are no surprises.

Your data, under UK rules

We hold your account and your reports, and nothing you didn't give us. You can export or wipe the lot from your account settings whenever you want; the privacy policy has the detail.

Who it's for

Most of the people who use us are about to buy a used car and want to know what they're walking into. A private buyer checking a car before viewing it. Someone at an auction weighing up a shortlist on their phone. A parent helping a first-time driver avoid an obvious dud. The multi-check page exists precisely for the "I've got five to look at" crowd.

But you don't need to be buying at all. Plenty of owners run a check on their own car before selling, so they can show a buyer the history up front, or just to see what the record says about it. If you only want the basics, our free tools (MOT status, plate decoder, tax and running-cost calculators) cover a fair bit without spending a penny. The full report is there for when you want the whole picture.

Questions people ask

Who runs UK Vehicle Audit?

We're an independent UK team, not a badge stuck on a giant data broker. The site is built and run by people who got fed up with vague, overpriced car checks and wanted something plain: one price, a clear report, and no games. Every check draws on the same industry vehicle data the motor trade relies on.

Is this a legitimate service?

Yes. We're a UK-based operation, payments run through Stripe, and the vehicle details come from an established industry data provider: the sort of information a buyer is entitled to check. We keep to UK data-protection rules, and you can export or delete everything we hold on you from your account at any time.

Are you connected to the DVLA or the government?

No, and we'd never claim to be. We're an independent commercial service. The report brings together data from official and motor-trade sources through a licensed provider, but we're not a government body and we don't speak for one. For things like taxing a car you deal with the DVLA directly.

Why should I trust the report?

Because we're upfront about where it comes from and where it stops. The data is the same kind a dealer checks before taking a car in, and we tell you plainly what isn't in it. We also always say to cross-check against the V5C logbook and a look over the car in person. A report steers you, it doesn't replace your own eyes.

How do I get in touch?

Email support@ukvehicleaudit.co.uk or use the contact page and a real person will get back to you. If you've got an order that didn't go to plan, include the reference and we'll sort it.

Got a question first?

We'd rather answer it than have you guess. Drop us a line and a real person will reply, or just go ahead and check a car.
